We have three computers. Computer A is running Windows XP Professional
SP2. Computer B is running Windows Me. Computer C is running Windows 95.
Computer A is connected via cable to a router. The router is also
connected to a hub and a cable modem. Computers B and C connect to the
hub via cable. There is a hardware firewall on the router. Computer A
has McAfee Firewall installed. Computer B has Norton Firewall installed.

Computers B and C are in a workgroup, called Workgroup (note the
capitalization), and successfully share files with each other. Each
shared device on Computers B and C requires a password to access the
device.

When we ran the Win XP Pro SP2 installation disk to upgrade Computer A
from Win XP Home SP2, Computer A was not in the workgroup. The XP Pro
installation did not give us the opportunity to specify a workgroup for
Computer A. However, when we checked the computer name, we found that
Computer A had been assigned to a workgroup called MSHOME. Accordingly,
from System Properties/Computer Name we clicked “Change...” to change
the name of the workgroup to Workgroup. However, we could only enter
capital letters for the workgroup name. Consequently, the workgroup on
Computer A is named WORKGROUP.

On Computer A, we set a few folders to be shared (read only) in the
workgroup. Computers B and C can access those folders with no problem.
Computer A has an attached printer. Computers B and C can print to the
printer attached to Computer A. Computer A can also print to that printer.

When we click the My Network Places icon on Computer A, we can see the
Workgroup workgroup (note the capitalization of the workgroup name) and
we can see computers A, B, and C listed. However, when we click on
Computer B or C, the following message appears:
\\B is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you
have access permissions.

Incorrect function.

When we click the icon for Computer A, we can see the folders on A that
we set as shared. However, the icon for those folders is the network
folder icon, not the shared folder icon, and we get a similar message
when we click a folder icon in Computer A in workgroup Workgroup.

\\A\sharedfolder is not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find
out if you have access permissions.

Incorrect function.

What do we need to change to allow Computer A to access the shared files
on computers A, B and C in workgroup Workgroup?
