Hi William,

Thank you for the link. However it is not of any real use to me. All of
the links from your link are about how to debug one of these errors. The
assumption being that you have a working system and have done something to
break it. Here is the description of the link that applies to my error:
"This article describes how to use a sample debugging session to determine
which specific driver is causing the following error message: Stop Error
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0xA)."

I am unable to do a debugging session because I have not even been able to
install XP Pro. This error is happening while the Microsoft installer is
loading all of the Microsoft provided software and drivers onto my system
for the initial install.

I am not upgrading from 98se or ME. This is a clean install where I am
letting the install program format the hard drive (though I have tried
formatting the drive outside of the install but that was of no help).

If anyone has any idea if there are known device drivers that are part of
the XP Pro SP1a install that are bad that would be helpful. I am also going
to try installing with the original XP Pro version and see if that makes a
difference. I will also try with a different copy of the XP Pro SP1a
install CD.

Any ideas and/or suggestions that pertain to my situation and are not just
knee-jerk reactions to the error code will be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Marc
