Program Not Responding/shutdown and restarts

  I am getting alot of program not responding send error report and somtimes
the computer shutts down and reboots itself with no warning. I have tried
Adaware scans, anti virus scans I am just about scanned out. I tried another
256mb of ram but the computer still is acting like crap. Here are some of the
specs of my computer:
OS Windows XP SP2
Mother Board- Asus P4S533 ACPI BIOS Revision 1007
Total Physical Mem.- 512 MB
Available Physical Mem.-343.30 MB
System Type-X86-basedPC
Processor-x86 Family 15 Model 1 Stepping 2 GenuineIntel ~1715 Mhz
 Any help would be appreciated.
