1) thanks for your reply and dont worry about being shot down in flames. A
few things that I have noticed is that for every one person who tries to
offer a solution there are twenty behind playing monday morning quarterback.
everyone is an expert after the fact. Havent had a chance to try your
suggestion as I am wandering down a different path, looking at possible
corrupt keys in my registry. I have found some sw to analyze the db and it
has pointed out a number of "bad" keys. I think that might have something to
do with my problem as well as another problem that has yet to be solved,
namely personal settings (on a different account) taking anywhere from 15-20
minutes to load. I am loathe to delete that account as it is the only one
that truly has admin rights to this machine. Short of formatting and
re-installing I am trying to "fix" the machine.
