help:computer slowed to extremly slow pace

for a week now my computer has been runing very slow. i freed up memory on
the hard drive but that did not work. also when im on the internet i will see
a page load but when i click to scroll it will freeze for a couple minitues
also i have a popup blocker but since my computer has started to slow dwn
there have been some popups appering. my popup blocker is still there because
when i open a new window it will be blocked. also for the same amout of time
every day i have noticed new items on my desktop(like adds for casino's and
visa's) What can i do i need help?
