I've been struggling with this for a couple of weeks now, and have run out
of ideas. Maybe someone can help me.
I decided to upgrade my primary hard drive from a 30 GB to an 80. Made a
fresh image of the drive with Drive Image 7.0 and stored it on the slave
drive as I always do.
Installed the new drive, set it up as one 80 gb partition and did the
restore. Everything worked just fine until I noticed that the C:\ partition
shows up as being 30 gb if I check the properties on the C Drive in My
Computer. XP's Disk Management Tool shows the true size of the drive, but
reports it as being completely used, with no unallocated space!
It's almost as if there were an invisible partition that is locking up that
space. I've tried a half dozen different disk managment tools, and all of
them report no problems with the disk or drive, insisting that I've got 59
gigs of data on it, when there are really only about 14 plus the free 15 gb.
Somehow or other Drive Image screwed up when it restored to the new drive
and didn't incorporate the new space into the partition. I'm missing 50 gbs
of space on that drive, I don't know how to get it back, and its driving me
nuts.
. I can find nothing in the MS KB about this problem and no references to
anything like it in any search I've done. OS is XP Home with SP2.
Short of tossing everything I've run out of ideas. Any suggestions would be
much appreciated .
