I did as you said -- and it worked. Thanks very much for the solution. It
was painless.

Bruce,
If you have the setup CD for Norton Anti-virus, try this:
Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run it.
Select Norton Anti-virus from the installed products list and remove the
Windows Installer information for the product. This should fix the current
problem. Then reinstall NAV from the CD.

Problem: Every time I try to open a file from my Microsoft Office XP programs, Word and Excel, I'm confronted with a message box that says: "Norton AntiVirus 2005 Norton AntiVirus 2005 does not support the Repair feature, please uninstall and reinstall." Underneath that is another message box that says: "Windows Installer Preparing to install . . . " I get the antivirus box message about three times; I hit OK on each, and then both the antivirus and installer boxes go away and the program opens fine, with the file. Doesn't do this on any other programs. I've got Windows XP Home edition with SP2, and I've got Office XP with SP3. I recently had to reinstall everything on my computer, and this particular problem seems to have come out of nowhere. I assume there's a corrupted file or an incomplete install of something, or some weird conflict with Norton antiVirus 2005, but I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Thanks.
