I search and found this similar topic. I'm having a similar problem here. I
have a ByTecc ME320 USB 2.0 external case. I've been using it w/ my Win 2K
and now Win XP Pro fine, until a couple days ago my gf did something and the
case when plugged in simply start flashing the LED, the drives wouldn't show
up. If you reboot with the ext case plugged in, the computer wouldn't reboot
at all!
I then tried something stupid, I downloaded the USB2 drivers from ByTecc's
website and used it. Now when I plug it in, it simply say "Found New
Hardware" and then "Unknown Device", Device Manager says there's no driver
installed for it, tried updating drivers, like Mike here it won't find it,
tried uninstalling and reboot, no luck. Tried installing SP2, no luck.
Tried patching w/ KB aticle on Win XP SP1 usb2 problem thingie... no luck. I
am screwed! Pleeeeeeeaaassseee help!
