Hi there
My computer was working fine. I installed SP2 and it still seemed to be
running ok. After about a week I went to shut it down and discovered
that the live updates now happen at shutdown. After waiting about
20mins I had to pull the pin and turn if off anyway. When I turned the
computer back on it all seemed to be ok, but after using it for an hour
or so, it started to "hang" for a couple of minutes and then come back.
When it "hangs" alt tabbing to other running apps works but nothing in
the task bar works. Also Ctl-Alt-delete causes a flurry of disk
activity but nothing else til the system comes back minutes later.
I had task manager running during a "hang" and CPU use was only about
10%. looking at the task list ordered on CPU, seemd the "system idle
process was doing most of the job at about 95%.
So there doesn't seem to be anything wrong, it just stops responding
for a couple of minutes, then magically starts working again.
I also have Internet Connection Sharing enabled, but it doesn't work
anymore. I've run the network setup wizard on both the internet
connected computer and the computer on the local lan and everything
looks right, but it just doesn't work.
I can access the net fine from the computer directly connected to the
net, but the other computers can't see past the internet computer. I'm
not positive, but I think this problem is somehow related to the "go
slow" problem above.
Any one got any ideas about what might be going on and how to fix it?
Thanks
Dave
