AutoPlay for USB devices

Is there any way I can turn autoplay off all together for USB devices? I
know I can set it to take no action, but I have about 30gigs of stuff on an
external HD and everytime I plug it in my pc scans it to see what kind of
content it has. This isn't a real problem, its just getting aggrevating.
