I took over a laptop recently from a co-worker (dell inspiron 8200, 2ghz)
with xp pro installed. I created a new Administrator account for myself,
and exported all my settings from my previous computer. When everything
appeared to be working well, I deleted my co-workers account. Now, about
80% of the time, windows explorer will crash when I try to move files or
folders, either by cut or copy, whether through the menu or keyboard
shortcuts, or try to delete folders. It will do it every time for several
hours to days, and then stop doing it for several hours to several days. My
co-worker did not have these problems under his account. The computer has
SP2 installed, but this was occuring before that. Re-installing windows is
not an option at the moment, and the inability to move files has almost put
a stop to my work. Anyone ever seen this before and know of a fix?
Anything more I can tell you to help diagnose this problem? Thanks!
