I have been trying to cleanup the kids computer and I have hit a real snag.
Explorer was almost useless because of all the popups. so I deleted all the
cookies and temporary internet files using the Tools/Internet Options. Then
I downloaded AdAware and tried to run it. After a minute or so of scanning,
I kept getting a error that said it was a Remote Procedure Call something or
other from NT Authority\System and would
restart in 30 sec. Ii managed to delete all of the problems that were
scanned to that point and then it restarted. I then ran adaware again and
got rid of a few more before it restarted. At some point, it quit telling
me it was going to shut down and I was able to finish the scan and deleted
all of the other 858 critical objects. Not kidding, this was loaded up with
crap. After rebooting, now it won't let me log in. It goes to Welcome
window and I can click on user or
administrator in normal or safe mode and it just starts to log on and
immediately logs me off. A virus?? How can I get rid of it when it won't
let me log on and get to Windows? Is there a DOS type program that can help
me?
Thanks
Bill
