- Hello. Thanks for the reply. When I tried to copy over the ntuser.dat
files from the old profile to the new one I was not logged on as any of
those 2 users. I was logged on as a 3rd user as the KB article says. Anyway
I've since found that the original problem of Windows Explorer crashing when
holding the mouse over avi files has nothing to do with the user profile
being corrupt as it happens on other user accounts.
The original problem remains however. When the mouse moves over most avi
files in explorer or my computer explorer crashes with
The instruction at "0xxxxx3397" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The
memory could not be "written".
The first number always ends in 3397 and the second is always zeros.
Does anyone know why this should be so? Thanks.
