A hardware router is not enough on its own.. a software firewall blocks
ingoing and outgoing, and will give you options.. if your computer attempts
to send outgoing material, a software firewall will make you aware and ask
if it is ok to proceed.. a hardware firewall might just let it through
without any warning.. it is a good idea to run a software firewall
regardless of the fact that you sit behind a router..

I have told Windows XP Prof SP2 to stop monitoring my firewall settings, but
every time I re-boot my PC it yells at me about the fact I have the firewall
turned off. I have a firewall on my router and don't need (or want) then
windows firewall. Is this a bug in SP2?
