This is what happened to me also. Except I haven't uninstalled SP2.
The XP Pro machines could ftp to my anonymous ftp server just fine pre-SP2,
but not after. All PCs that could ftp to my anonymous ftp server before
these findings that have not been upgraded with SP2 can still ftp with no
problem.
SP2 has definitely screwed up FTP. Even with FTP enabled through the SP2
firewall, it still does not work to my anonymous FTP server.
(FYI : The anonymous FTP server is just on an XP Pro machine using MS's
built-in FTP server.)
