Hello,
*Unsure if this will apply to you, but you could check this out.* I am in
the UK and use BT Yahoo as my ISP. After recently installing their broadband
software, I found out that there is a critical patch for that software which
addresses issues with Parental controls and Yahoo Messenger. The patch should
be installed before installing SP2. BT Yahoo Help advised me to download and
run the patch anyway, even though SP2 was already installed. So far I have
had no problems. The following is from an e-mail reply I received regarding
the patch:
"More information regarding these updates and the patch for the BT
Yahoo! Applications can be found in the XP Service Pack 2 FAQs located at:
http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/btyahoo/service/xpsp2.html
BT Yahoo! Internet customers logging in using BT Yahoo! Internet
software should be updated automatically with the security patches in
anticipation of the Service Pack 2 release. When the patch has been applied,
you should see the following message "Critical Patch installed
successfully".
If for any reason this patch hasn't been automatically applied before
the release of Service Pack 2, you can manually download and install it
either from the XP Service Pack 2 FAQs or from the following link:
http://download.yahoo.com/dl/bty/xpsp2fix.exe
Please note that if this patch hasn't been applied prior to the
installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2 then you may experience problems
with the BT Yahoo! Applications after the update has been applied."
