I have a Asus P2B-LS, P2 400, 512k ram and a Maxtor 40G HD. I run Ad-Aware,
Grisofts AVG,Spyblaster and Search and Destroy. Even though I am totally up
to date through windowsupdate and I have SP2 for XP installed I STILL get a
hard lock freeze while browsing the internet. It can happen at anytime,
seemingly. I have been though the hardware. I have tried:
-disabling the sound card, updating BIOS (vers 1012 now) firmware on my CD
writer, and even disabling my CD writer.
-I have scan-disked and defragged from fresh boot. I have run a series of
drive fitness tests (no bad sectors, drive tests good)
-I have updated the video driver to WHQL drivers
- I have combed the bios and verified proper wait states settings and such.
- I have run a memory tester and I have removed some of the ram and tried
some of the ram in different slots
- I have cleaned the computer, and I have tried additional cooling fans.
The freeze ONLY happens on IE6 while on browsing a page like www.trader.ca
...whats so special about that page? Nothing that I see, but it locks up
there all the time, guarnteed.
I am going to disable some IE6 settings tonight and try that.
