Hello,
I had a similar problem to you where I had problems with my Video driver and
the entry was missing from device manager, I tried to install several
drivers, they seemed to install OK but after a reboot I went in to display
properties to check driver had installed OK but it said the driver was
unknown. This was causing the monitor to flicker and Deguaze badly and
sometimes the screen would stay dark after reboot.
My video card is a Creative Labs Geforce 3 ti200, I even tired the latest
Nvidia driver but this would not work. I also had problems with Media player
and slow boots. I have now restored an image of my PC which I took just
before installing SP2, computer is now running well.
