I have several XP Home (SP1)computers connected to a print server over
a P2P LAN. The print server is an HP 500X with 2 printers connected
to it. One printer is a model HP 4200 and the other is a model HP
2230.
The printers were installed on the computers using an Administrator
account.
If I setup any of the computers with a Limited user account. Printing
to the HP 2230 no longer works. But printing to the HP 4200 continues
to work fine.
When attempting to print to the HP 2230 with a Limited user account I
get the following popup box.
SPOOL DIRECTORY SELECTION
INSUFFICIENT DISKSPACE IN THE CURRENT DIRECTORY TO SPOOL THE PRINT
FILE. PLEASE SELECT ANOTHER DIRECTORY.
CURRENT DIRECTORY: C:\WINDOWS\RBP12515.TMF
DIRECTORY: C:\
CLICK OK TO CONTINUE, SKIP TO IGNORE.
I would like to have a higher level of security on these computers.
So, giving all users Admin rights is not desireable.
Does anyone have a suggestion for changes that can be made to limit
the user rights but still enable printing?
