Daryl,

NO NO NO NO NO ...
Do NOT reinstall anything! Just remove the infection.
Most likely you’ll need to disable System Restore, and boot in Safe Mode:

Start/Restart your computer and start pushing F8 key twice per second. Select Safe Mode on Windows Advanced Options screen, and push Enter.

But check for the exact instructions here (enter virus name):

Then run these scan to make sure you are clean:

And check this to prevent similar problems in the future:

Norton was able to quarantine the slideshow.exe file, but unable to repair or quarantine the winview.exe file. I'd like to get rid of this virus. I tried using Stinger, but it didn't work. I've tried deleting these files, but get a message that I don't have access to do so. My next thought was to uninstall my Windows XP Home Edition altogether and then reinstall it, hoping to rid my hard drive completely. Will this work? How do I go about uninstalling Windows XP if this is a resonable option for me. Not sure what else to do. Any suggestions appreciated.
