Well, you certainly seem more than aware to the workings of major
democracies that don't own up to their creeds other than the visions their
leaders see! There have been a few times when I felt like moving to Holland
to get away from our system of spreading democracy and involving ourselves
in the business of nations not living up to the standards of the great USA.
our government complains to other countries that abuse the right and
physical being of its people, which many do. But add that we are the beacon
of democracy in the world when we least represent it by our actions outside
it. Inside it is a mess of neighborhoods that are rarely intertwined with
the great mix of masses here; races and creeds living among themselves with
the air that everyone is equal, all black, hispanic, etc, neighborhoods,
that are almost all working class or people of little means to make or have
money.
Hell, we are so powerful that we can bomb nations, but we can't (or I should
say simply DON'T!) provide universal health care for the low income masses
while the rich get richer off the backs of the poor, including the extreme
poor of 3rd world nations.
Then folks here wonder why some nations hate us LOL! All this power, and we
do little to help without condition for giving it. People in desperate need
or starving have little use for conditions, considering their lives depend
on only what they have little of; they understand giving, but they don't
have the means to pay the price!

The problem is is that each state makes the law. So there are 50 sets of
rules, as we were all educated during the coup 4 years ago. The rest of the
world got educated in these things such as you mention.
It's such a mess. All democracy is oppression. In westminister systems close
elections do not always go to the party with most votes. But what one side
wins on the roundabout the pick up on the swings so it's accepted. But as in
Texas where the dems had to flee the state a gerrymander in known unknown
here. Queensland had one for decades by drawing boundaries so their seat
winning power is maximised by decreasing their winning margin in areas they
control. EG Labour got their areas put into safe seat where their votes were
wasted.
But know we have independent bodies drawing the boundaries and the courts
deciding appeals. Courts are not stacked with political appointees (except
for the high court - and those always decide against their previous
politics). But the current extreme right try their best as they have no
honour.
