Well,
look carefully on the keyboard for any LED or indicator which says something
like "Fn Lock" - look fo any key marked "Fn Lock" too...
It sounds like you have Fn locked on (like Caps Lock on means you have to
press SHIFT to get lower case.)
If no luck, try the manual for your laptop, if no manual try the maker's web
site.
