BTW, will the computer boot from the CD? Possibly try to Repair. Your files
you hope to save"Should" remain intact doing a repair. I still think my
prior answer is an option to consider.

without running windows? Or installing another Windows operating system and
still having the files?

hit ctrl+alt+delete and bring up the "windows security" window? If so, you
may be able to go into task manager and see if there is a process running
there called "explorer.exe"... if there isn't, you can try running it from
the File -> New Task (run...) option. type explorer.exe and see if it shows
your desktop or gives you errors.

nothing on the screen but the mouse, which I can move, but nothing else
loads up. At first, it seems like something will load because there is a
flash of color in the middle of the screen but then it goes to blue. I'm not
sure what to do other than completely reinstall Pro over Home but I dont
want to lose my files. Any suggestion or help? Thanks!
