Thanks for your response.
I see that I can disable simple file sharing by unchecking the appropriate
box under the View tab of Folder Options. (My Sid account has the same user
name and password on all computers.) I'm hoping disabling simple file
sharing doesn't considerably complicate security adminsitration for this
computer or affect performance; this is the only situation that I can think
of where simple file sharing would not suffice. There is one other thing
that I'd like to ask about. You say "be sure you disable 'Guest' on the
computer". However, I do use the Guest account and would like to continue to
use it for all visitors in the house needing access to a browser. Could you
explain why it is very important that this be accomplished with Guest
disabled?
