sata installation of windowsxp pro?

i have an amd 2700 w/ 512 ddr 333 and an 80g sata hdd.my motherboard is a msikt6delta and i cant finger out how to install windows xp pro on the sata hdd.it wont recocnize it as a hdd(hard disk drive*)if someone could help it would be appreciated!i can get through the setup menu to install 3rd person software and it is installed except when i try to run the rest of the install it doesnt recocnize the drive?how do i make the bios recognize the sata as a hdd?
