download knoppix 3.4 and burn the ISO into a cdrom and use it as a rescue
disk.
This version of linux runs from the cd and does not touch your hard drive.
It is simple to use.
Once Linux has booted from the cdrom you will be able to see your files from
the hard drive icons on the desktop
www.knoppix.com. then you can transfer your files to floppy disks.
