windows xp won't load up sometimes.

I had windows xp home edit. installed in jan this year. Some times when I start it up, it won't load. so I'll have to shut it down, and do it again. it might take me 2 or 3 times to get it loaded up.some times when it loads up, the monitor won't come on. so I have to re booth it again to load it back up. some times it just load just part way and then stop. Then I have to re booth it again to load up. Would my video card be causeing this??? our can someone help me.
