There are several symptoms/problems, but only one source? I can no
longer run Spywareblaster, and that help forum hasn't been able to
help me. The error msg I get relates to a DLL missing file. When I
try to fix it using Spywareblasher site's standard suggestion about
installing the missing file, I get another error msg about possible
"thread exits" or something or other (I can get the error to produce
again if anybody needs it verbatim).
I was able to install and use SpyBot, but a companion program to fix
registry errors gave me the same error msg as above.
And Litsolf, a crossword puzzle program used by the New York Times -
I can no longer download those puzzles. I tried to download the
software again - and now it won't download, get this error msg:
"Cannot find file
C:\DOCUME~1\user1\TEMPOR~1\contentIE5\8LQ7SHAF\ACLWIN~1\.EXE (or one
of its components). Check to insure that path and filename are
correct and that all required libraries are available."
I have no idea what this means. At some point I downloaded service
packs from Microsoft for IE6, or an upgrade, and have rec'd other
"updates" from Microsoft as well. At some point before that I
apparently had a trojan in some WIN file which I somehow disabled
after getting directions from some other forum.
I just don't know what to do. Oh, and since getting the new
installed updates from MS, I now get more script errors, even tho I
have unchecked that option on the appropriate menu and check another
telling it not to do it.
Somebody, please help me, please!
