Hi, this happened to me for some reason after quite some time when I was using
auto log on. I don't use auto log on any more and the volume icon stays in the
notification area.
Just a thought.

card and Labtech external powered speakers. The volume icon will not stay on the
taskbar. I can go into the control panel and under sound, select the "show
volume control on the taskbar" and it will appear on the taskbar until I turn
off the PC. When I restart the PC, the icon is gone.

get that icon to stay displayed on the taskbar?
