This happens because you still have configurations tied to the old setup. You will have to go into the control panel\network connections and delete any connections you can find. Then go into system\hardware\device manager and right click on your modem and delete it. Make sure you delete all modem references even if they have a red x or a yellow triangle. Then shut your system down reboot and then you should get the found new hardware pop-ups and you may have to go into your network folder and create a new network. Once you have this done then go to the manufacturers site of your modem and download the latest drivers. You should keep these on a CD so that you won't have to go through this in the future when doing a repair or fresh install. Good luck
