switching users causes black screen

Hi,

I've got this little annoying problem. When I switch users I often get my display to black out, with a blinking cursor in the corner, unable to enter any commands or even do control alt delete. I've noticed that this happens only when I only "switch user" not when I log that person off and then open a new user. Can anyone tell me how to remedy this?

btw...i have windows xp for home...1.5 Ghz, 256 mb ram...any thing else necessary?
