regedit doesn't stay open!

Recently regedit closes as soon as it opens with no error message!

It displays the registry few a moment and before I have even a chance to d anything it just silently quits!

The computer is running fine though (although a bit slower than usual)

I'm running XP Pro with SP1 on an IBM Thinkpad and recently uninstalled a few programs but nothing is obviously wrong except this.
