Uninstalled CD-Rom Drive

I somehow managed to Uninstall my CD_ROM Drive. How do I get it back?????
It happened when I was trying to load HP Photosmart software. For whatever reason only a portion of the software installed. I tried removing it before reinstalling (the disk was not in the drive), and managed to uninstall D: drive too.
I am aware of the critical update needed to safely run this software. However, when I tried running the update I recieved a message that read: Thid update is unnecessary in this computer. Please help??
