cannot install MapPoint, install wizard won't run, HELP!!

Can' install any programs all of a sudden. After inserting disc the wizard does not launch, unable to run manually either. I have installed the Mappoint disc several times and most often absolutely nothing happens. A couple of times the program did launch but 3/4 of the way through i received an error message "unable to locate file". I know that the disc is good, I have installed it on another computer for verification without any problems. HELP!!!!!!! (running XP pro)
