HELP - Can't get to logon screen!

Hi

I posted a message earlier but it seems to have gone astray. I'm using WIndows XP Pro and for the last few days I have not been able to logon. I have tried rebooting numerous times but only get as far as the 'CTRL+ALT+DELETE' screen. Pressing these keys doesn't get me any further than a few beeps from my hard-drive! I have a suspicion that this problem may be related to Internet explorer 6 as it has been causing problems for the last few weeks but thats only a guess!

Anyone have any ideas what's wrong and how I can go about fixing it? Thanks in advance! Anna
