Hello all. I just bought a laptop computer which came
complete with a wireless LAN card. To be precise a WiFi
IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN pc card with 2.4Ghz DSSS (If
anyone knows what that means!). I bought the laptop
knowing it had this with it as i want to be able to
access the Internet which is currently only on my desktop
PC. Basically i want to know what i have to do to split
my broadband between my desktop which can be connected
with a wire still as my broadband modem is next to my pc,
and my laptop which i want upstairs wirelessly. Do i need
a wireless dsl router which the broadband plugs into with
an rj45, then my desktop pc connecting to the router with
an rj45 too, then my laptop upstairs connecting
wirelessly? (Hope you all follow). Next thing, if the
above is correct how do i then set up the network so the
internet is shared? How do i share a printer? How do i
make it so i can access my e-mail on outlook express on
BOTH computers? How do i make it so i can only be logged
on to ONE computer at a time? Thank you for reading, any
help welcome! E-mail me too please if possible!
