Hi all.

I am missing the 'security' tab when I select properties of a file or
folder. I am running a single NTFS partition, Windows XP SP1a on said
computer. All computers belong to the 'HOME' workgroup and no other
computers in my network are missing the security tab.

I've researched this problem and every solution I've found lists a solution
such as the following:

"To reveal the Security tab, open Windows Explorer, and choose Folder
Options from the Tools menu. On the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the
Advanced Settings and clear (click) the check box next to "Use Simple File
Sharing." Click OK to apply the change, and you should now have a Security
tab when viewing the properties of a file on an NTFS volume."

My problem is the 'Use Simple File Sharing' option in folder options does
not exist on this computer. Are there any other solutions to fix this
issue, short of a complete OS reinstall?

Summary and troubleshooting methods tried thusfar:

- Computer is running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, SP1a (I have
tried reinstalling SP1a, to no avail.)
- Volume is NTFS
- Windows Update patches are 100% up-to-date.
- I have tried leaving and rejoining the 'HOME' workgroup many times for
every computer in the network. After all this, this computer is the only
one suffering from the missing 'Security Tab'.

Any suggestions for restoring my 'Security tab' would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks.
