I've been fighting the same problem for two days. CPU usage spiked to 100 and stayed there. Couldn't get my virus scanner to open either (using fix-it utilities). I just upgraded to fixit 5 (from fixit 4) and things seem to be back to normal. Virus scan showed nothing. Maybe something got screwed up in the original software? That's all I can figure
