You're correct and you can access your hotmail and address book at
http://www.hotmail.com Also, you can use Outlook Express to check your email
there by setting it up with your account. You can also use Outlook XP (Not
Outlook 2000 or lower) I'm not too familiar with the MSN software but I
believe it shares the same favorite folder with Microsoft Explorer which
should be on your computer if you are using Windows XP (You can also link
your Windows XP login name to your Hotmail account in the Control Panel/User
Accounts area - click on the .NET Passport setting on your login name to do
this)

As for the Norton Virus Protection program this is a completely different
program than MSN so it won't effect it at all.

Hope this answers your question fully.

This is my story; I cancelled my MSN acct. which I rarely used. For the
majority I would go into Int. Explorer>choose hotmail>enter p.w.>use my MSN
email address. No paticular reason for this except that I just never got
familiarized w/MSN explorer. Now I want to remove my MSN 8 software and stay
w/my other ISP for the cable internet that they provide but I do not want to
use their name for a email address. I want a hotmail account
w/a ----@hotmail.com addy. I have 2 msn.com addresses w/the added user acct.
being the most used. I have to move both(?) accounts out of MSN while saving
my contacts and favorites and anything else I may need to keep. I understand
that hotmail goes hand in hand w/MSN and this is where I get confused. MSN
support told me that if I were to remove my MSN software; I would still have
my favorites, contacts and everything else in hotmail except for the MSN
format. Please correct me if I'm wrong. MSN is gone... so I go into int.
explorer using the same passwords I had for both accts. and my
favorites, contacts, etc. will be there. I can then email my contacts of my
new hotmail address. My Windows XP will remain the same and I will still
have the norton virus protection. Can you please tell me if this is correct
and/or whatever I may need to know and do? I have no other help. Thanks so
much contact me jkey59(removethis)@msn.com
