when i try to install it stops in the middle and i get msg" webcan cannot be

You can get a copy of UVCView here, for WinXP 32 bit.

This is what that tool looks like, when it is showing a connected device.
Usbview is another program very similar to the UVCView one. UVCView has
support for USB Video Class added to it, which is why the name is
different.

Your webcam may have identity info like this, shown in UVCView. The
info is based on something posted in a Linux discussion.

idProduct: 0x00f4
The resaon I ask about that, is apparently some other web cam
"lost" its identity, and it is pretty hard for an installer
to work, if the camera no longer looks like a VX-6000.
