The information was a bit advanced for me - but what it did was make me
realised is that this is probably a software problem. I had tried to fixed
something by just installing a upgrade and it was after this started
happening. I am now doing a fresh installation from scratch (not cutting
corners) and hopefully that will sort it out. I was very grateful to get your
reply, as I nearly threw the computer out.
Many thanks

Desktop running XP Pro keeps looping back to the F8 screen where you can
choose safe mode etc. It will not boot to Windows Normal, Safe Mode or
otherwise. Or it boots to a blue error screen with error message
0x000000ED
(0x8631CE30, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). I have just done a new
installation of XP Pro and it was running very well. Advice would be much
appreciated.
