I currently have a Intel P4 2.0GHz 512k/400 Northwood A80532 CPU
(~10% overclocked)
Can I put a newer P4 Prescot 533/800 MHz CPU on this board?
Sure would like to upgrade to a 3.0+ GHz CPU if I could.
Thanks for any help!

These are all Northwood (0.13u) processors, at FSB400. There is
one faster one (P4 2.8GHz/FSB400 S478) which is not listed here. But
they're probably all gone from retail anyway.

In terms of alternatives, if may be possible to run the board
at FSB533, use PC1066 etc. Barry has a recipe here, which depends
on some kind of clock generator choice on the motherboard. You
could even try overclocking the board as it currently stands,
by selecting a different memory multiplier and then experimenting
with the CPU input clock. When doing overclocking experiments,
boot with a "non-volatile OS", such as a Linux LiveCD (Knoppix or
Ubuntu), as the CD cannot be corrupted if the PCI clock and IDE
controllers are running at the wrong speed.

If purchasing a processor, the thing to avoid, is 90nm processors.
Most of the S478 stuff you'll see for sale, will be 90nm.
Trade names are "Prescott" or "Celeron D". You don't want
those, because they'll "black screen" and won't post. A config
pin on the bottom of the Prescott processor, sees to that.
The fastest FSB533 S478 0.13u processor, is a 3.06GHz. Again,
be careful when shopping, as there is a Xeon that also fits
the description to some extent. (Like if you're looking on
Pricewatch.com) You'd use a purchase like that, if perhaps
you're having some luck with Barry's recipe.

So the "tame" option is P4 2.6GHz/FSB400 0.13u S478. If
the wind is blowing in the right direction, the answer
might be P4 3.06GHz/FSB533 0.13u S478.
