Re: Two drive laptop?

I have a laptop with 100 gb SATA drive and a new 250gb SATA drive. I want to upgrade the drive and would like to use Acronis TI to clone the 100->250 without using the USB method.

How can I connect both drives to the laptop at the same time so I can clone directly?

So it is possible to add SATA interfaces to a laptop.

This kit provides much of what you'd need. It has a PCMCIA (PCCard)
SATA card, to add a SATA interface to the laptop. There is also
an external enclosure. Don't let the fact there is a USB cable
in the kit bother you. The USB cable is used to leech +5V as a power
source for the laptop drive. Some laptop drives have a 5V @ 500mA
max power spec, which is exactly the max power available on a
USB port on the laptop. The actual data transfer is SATA.

Naturally, there are always issues with cabling and connector types.
Virtually every connector category on computers, includes many
different variations on a common theme. So if you're piecing
all the bits and pieces together, don't be surprised if at
the last minute, you need yet another flavor of adapter
cable. If you can get everything in a kit, the odds are better
it'll all plug together.
