Only the notebook's maker (HP) can tell you for certain. You can
check in the BIOS or on the support web site.
As for booting, with XP, you would probably only be able to boot with
a pendrive that is prepared as the floppy drive (HP specialized
tool.) XP was not designed to boot off a USB hard drive.
