Re: External USB Hard Drive No Longer Working On My Computer

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Plug in the drive,go to device manager and uninstall the unknown device.
Unplug the drive and reboot the system. Plug in the drive and reboot.

A Couple days ago i logged on to my computer to find a error message on the
bottom right saying:

"USB Device not recongnized

One of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and
Windows does not recongnize it."
and upon clicking it a list of my USB ports comes up and it has a UNKNOWN
DEVICE in bold. The recomendation is to reconnect it and if that does not
work replace it.

So I took the Hard Drive and connected it to another computer running
Windows XP and it works fine, i can browse the files and even delete and
copy
them.

I have other USB devices plugged in that are working, like my keyboard and
mouse.

anybody know what is going on here?
