Try this:
Open My Computer
Right click the DVD Recorder Drive and select Properties.
Select the Recording tab, toward the bottom is a drop down box for recording speed.
When using a third party program to burn you can adjust the burning speed within the program before
you do the writing operation.

Right Click in DVD drive.
CLick on Properties
The look in 'Advanced' tabs.
