Re: LifeChat ZX-6000 headset not recognized

Got the same problem. I created two partitions on my Dell vostro, one Vista
partition and one Windows XP partition. So I'm using exactly the same pieces
of hardware. On Vista there's no problem using the ZX-6000. On Windows XP I
got exactly the same problem as discribed here; the device is detected, but I
can't select it as default device. The only sound device marked is the
soundcard of my laptop. No sign of the ZX-6000 or any microsoft audio device.

The only option I was given was Sound Blaster Live! my sound card driver.

I thought it might be do to my version of XP not having the USBAUDIO.sys
driver installed so when I couldn't find it online I did a repair install and
screwed my OS up. So now I have Vista Ultimate installed and I still have
the same problem.

I have a LifeChat ZX-6000 wireless headset with the Xbox 360 wireless
receiver for Windows. When I plug in the receiver it gets recognized and the
driver gets installed fine, but when I turn on my headset it does not get
recognized by my computer (Windows XP) but it does have connection to the
receiver. I tried it on my Vista laptop and it works fine but I can't seem to
get it to work on my desktop. I have no option to choose "Microsoft LifeChat
LX-6000 or select Headset (Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows)" as my
default device in my sound options. When connected to my laptop only the
first light would stay lit on the headset (showing it had connection and was
recognized I assume) while all 4 lights flash repeatedly when trying to use
it on my desktop. Any suggestions as to how to get this to work on my XP
desktop?

What option to you have as to set the "default" for the playback
devices in the Sound? If you have a "Microsoft..." option, that may
be the setting needed.
