WinXP is much happier with at least 1Gb of RAM

At work our CPU's run on Windows XP Professional. We all have varying
amounts
of RAM in our CPU's. I have 512 in mine...I've heard many a rumor about
how
much memory is needed to have XP run well, can any help me know how much I
need? I am generally running 3-5 programs at a time and my computer seems
so
slow.
