Fujitsu ScanPartner 620C Installation Problem

I have been trying to install a Fujitsu ScanPartner 620C connected to
HP desktop running Windows XP via Adaptec SCSI card that came with the
scanner. This has not been successful. I have used the driver that
came with the scanner without luck. After successfully installing the
driver and you reboot, the system turns OFF the READY light on the
scanner while booting. Then you cannot use the scanner as the scanning
application that came with the scanner reports "Scanner not connected
or Off line".
I have downloaded drivers from Fujitsu site and Adaptec site. No
success. What I notice is that if you check from "Add/Remove Program"
under Control Panel, the size of the installed driver is given as
0.00MB!
Would appreciate help to resolve this problem.
