Hello,
I bought a computer that was originally built by a guy for his own use.
There are 8 fans in the box. Three are inflow fans, two are outflow fans,
and there are three internal fans pointing at a drive or video card. None
of the fans have filters and the box is accumulating a lot of dust.
I bought some vent filter material that I plan to cut to size and hold in
position with double back tape. I assume that the inflow fans should be
filtered.
Is it necessary to filter the outflow or internal fans? Are vent filters
OK for computer fan filters? Is there any problem with double back tape to
hold the filter in position?
Thanks a lot,
Bob
If you dry clothing, or have access to its final product; take the used
dryer anti-static remnants for a filter. Only filter the ingoing air.
Place the PC off the floor if carpeted. A couple of bricks will work fine.
Or, perhaps, a painted cinder block. This is obviously a tower enclosure
(PC case). If the owner smokes, place an air filtration unit in the room.
Eliminate any source of airborne dust as much as possible.
Dave
